The reality of GLP-1 without monitoring

Most people who start GLP-1 therapy stop within a year.

Most people don't stop because GLP-1 doesn't work. They stop because of side effects they weren't prepared for, hair loss they blamed on the medication, results that plateaued because an underlying condition went undiagnosed, or because no one helped them adapt once the first month ended.

Avitro's approach: screen before prescribing. Monitor while treating. Support behavior while results are still fragile. Plan for maintenance before the plateau becomes a dropout.

That is why Avitro does not treat GLP-1 as a prescription-only flow. We combine prescribing with screening, monitoring, education, and structured follow-up.

35–40%

of adults carry H. pylori

silently amplifying GI side effects on GLP-1

20–30%

develop iron-deficiency hair shedding

often attributed to the medication, not the deficiency

Up to 30%

of weight lost can be muscle

without a protein and resistance protocol

Tier 2 diagnostics are launching soon. Join the waitlist — this is what the monitored protocol includes once active.

The difference monitoring makes

GLP-1 works best with the full picture.

Without monitoring

Muscle loss alongside fat

Up to 30% of weight lost on GLP-1 can be lean muscle without a protein protocol.

Hair shedding

Iron deficiency triggers hair loss in 20–30% of patients — often blamed on the medication.

GI side effects

H. pylori (35–40% of adults¹) can significantly amplify nausea, bloating, and discomfort.

GLP-1 stops working

Undiagnosed hypothyroidism makes GLP-1 ineffective — patients think the drug failed.

Oral contraceptive interaction

Foundayo reduces oral contraceptive absorption. Your clinician needs to know before prescribing.

With Avitro Tier 2

Ferritin screened before starting

We catch iron deficiency before hair shedding begins.

H. pylori tested on day one

We don't prescribe GLP-1 until H. pylori is addressed.

TSH checked before dose

Hypothyroidism identified and managed before prescribing.

Protocol adjusted quarterly

Biomarkers monitored every 3 months. Dose adjusted to your actual biology.

Provider briefed on your full history

Every interaction includes contraindication screening.

What we test before you start

Five markers. Everything that matters for GLP-1 safety.

Each one affects whether GLP-1 is safe and effective for you — and what your personalized protocol will look like.

HbA1c

Your average blood sugar over 3 months

Above 6.5% changes your protocol entirely — this is a diabetes threshold that requires a different approach.

Above 6.5% → modified protocol or diabetes referral

CMP

Kidney and liver function

eGFR < 45 is a contraindication. ALT > 3× requires a pause before prescribing.

eGFR < 45 → contraindication, refund issued + PCP referral

ALT > 3× → physician review, prescription paused ≤48h

TSH

Your thyroid activity

Undiagnosed hypothyroidism makes GLP-1 less effective. Patients often assume the drug failed — when it's thyroid.

0.4–4.0 mIU/L

Abnormal → modified protocol or referral

H. pylori Stool Antigen

A common stomach bacteria most people don't know they have

35–40% of US adults carry it.¹ GLP-1 slows stomach emptying — combined with H. pylori, GI side effects can be significantly amplified.

Positive → treatment pathway before GLP-1 begins

Ferritin

How much iron your body has stored

Low ferritin causes hair shedding during weight loss. Almost always blamed on GLP-1. Actually preventable.

Women: 12–150 ng/mL | Men: 12–300 ng/mL

Low → supplementation added to your protocol

Are you eligible for GLP-1 therapy?

GLP-1 is appropriate for adults with:

BMI ≥ 30 (obesity)
BMI 27–29.9 with a weight-related condition: type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or obstructive sleep apnea

— or —

GLP-1 is not appropriate with:

Personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer (MTC)
Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2)
End-stage kidney disease (on dialysis)
Currently pregnant or breastfeeding
Significant liver conditions — clinician evaluates individually

Don't know your BMI? We calculate it automatically during your questionnaire. Your eligibility is shown immediately.

We also ask for waist circumference — weight alone doesn't tell the full metabolic story.

Final eligibility is determined by a licensed clinician based on your questionnaire, lab results (Tier 2), and medical history. This page describes general criteria — it does not constitute medical advice or an eligibility decision.

What GLP-1 actually does in your body — and why monitoring matters

How it works

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) is a hormone your body produces naturally after eating. GLP-1 medications mimic this — signaling fullness, slowing stomach emptying, and reducing appetite signals in the brain.

What to expect

Reduced appetite within 1–2 weeks. Meaningful weight loss around 8–12 weeks. GI side effects (nausea, bloating) are common in the first weeks and usually improve. H. pylori screening significantly reduces avoidable GI risk.

Why weight alone is incomplete

The scale may go down while lean mass drops or waist circumference barely changes. That's why we track both weight and waist — and why muscle-preservation guidance is part of the protocol.

Why planning matters

GLP-1 works best as a monitored protocol — not a standalone script. Monitoring helps with adherence, side effects, body composition, and what comes after the first few months. Planning maintenance from month 3 prevents the most common failure mode.
